The Slanty Shanty.

In May of 2006, we decided to purchase a cabin. After looking around for a while (ok, not really
that long), we settled on a nice little place near Iron River, WI. It sits on nearly four acres of woods, on a small
lake. It's a really nice area, with beautiful lakes for boating and fishing, lots of snowmobile and
hiking trails, and a number of interesting and fun bars and restaurants. Plus, it's not super touristy
like Brainerd or Hayward. We did quite a bit of work on the place, including new kitchen and bathroom floors
and counters, repaired the siding and shed, and painted. We also purchased some old snowmobilesto bum around
on in the wintee, and a cool old boat that we restored in 2007. In addition, my old 1966 Ford pickup
is now in permanent residence there, used for hauling things and launching the boat and just driving
into to town and back.

The Peeing Hound Pub.

In late 2003, we decided to finish our basement - the last major project we had left since we had the house built in 1999.
I (Chris) always wanted a bar and rec room in the basement, so that's what we decided to do. We had our friend Brian Anderson
draw up the plans and he steered us to Shawn Williams, who was the contractor. They did an excellent job.

We did do a lot of the work ourselves as well to save some money. Lisa did all the painting, and the tile floor in the bathroom. Chris did
the waiscotting on the bar and in the bathroom, and ran all the surround sound and TV wiring, and we both did the Pergo
floor behind the bar.

Our friend Kerry "P" Person came up with the name "The Peeing Hound" for the bar, and
it stuck, so I designed a sign and had it professionally made for Lisa's birthday to hang above the bar.
We have a collection of before and after photos below, so enjoy!

It's kind of dark - I'll try to get a better one soon.
