Taken off Highway 23, south of Duluth
After seven years of riding my 1997 Concours, I was finally able to purchase a new motorcycle! I'd done a bunch of research on different bikes, but it kept coming back to the Buell XB12XT Ulysses. I'd loved the Uly since it first came out in 2006, but the X Version was just too tall for my 30" inseam. Then, in 2008, Buell came out with a shorter version, the XT. In addition to lowered suspension, the XT comes standard with hard luggage and heated grips.
I stumbled across this one at Harley-Davidson Sports Center in Duluth, MN, in June of 2009. It's a 2008, and the first owner traded it in after just one year, and 2600 miles, as the back seat was too tall for his wife to climb up on. His loss, my gain, as I was able to buy it for way less than new, and actually quite a bit less than book value. Unfortunately, about a month and a half later, Harley-Davidson decided to shut down Buell production, and my deal suddenly wasn't so good with the deals being offered. Oh well, I don't regret my decision. I love this bike. The riding position, the sound, the handling. Everything about it is so much fun. The biggest thing about it is that it's so much lighter than my old Kawasaki, which makes it much better on gravel roads, and it's taller, which makes it nicer in heavy freeway commuting traffic.
I've added some farkles to make it more ready for long-distance riding, despite Lisaberg's hope that I wouldn't "junk it up."
J&M 2003 CB/Audio system (off my old bike) Garmin 478 GPS with XM Radio add on and Touratech locking mount Gerbing heated jacket controller (off my old bike) Kaoko throttle lock Dual hi-beam mod Precision Engineering lower footpegs Airhawk seat pad
and I did plumb my Tourtank 3 gallon fuel cell in prep for several LD rides. I won't leave it on all the time, because I like my big stock trunk, but the fuel range in stock form is kind of low.
